City First Church

CFLC has the incredible privilege of being a part of City First Church in Rockford, IL. City First Church has been named one of the 100 fastest growing churches in America. Our mission is simple: We exist to introduce everyone to Jesus and teach them to follow Him. The heartbeat of this church and its leadership is to create a place where even the unchurched feel loved and welcomed.

As a CFLC student, your opportunity for involvement is endless, and you will serve in several different environments on Sunday mornings. You will have the chance to volunteer in our kids ministry, productions, worship, first impressions, Stuart’s Coffee Co., and the list goes on and on. Sunday mornings are energetic and full of life! People from all different walks of life and diverse backgrounds engage with one another in what we call not just a friendly church, but a family church. Each student will be a part of producing the Sunday morning experience as well as all of our conferences and events throughout the year. Some of those events are the Thrive Youth & Young Adult Conference, the Men’s Event, Original Women’s Conference, plus some of our super bowl weekends like Christmas and Easter. Here at City First Church, we are always doing something to introduce everyone to Jesus, and we promise it is an integral part of your year as a CFLC student. Just check out what God has done over the past year at City First Church!

History

Over the last 30 years, God has given us the privilege and responsibility of raising up the next generation of leaders. Spiritual development and hands-on training have been the signature of this ministry since its inception in 1993. With well over 1,300 graduates from our program, we have students working in every facet of society. Our goal is to call out the greatness inside of you and position you to lead in every arena of life.

Academics

We believe leaders are learners and thus, we call our students to a standard of excellence in the classroom. Students will develop their intellect and increase their proficiency in a variety of subjects. They will expand their knowledge of the Word of God, while promoting a love for learning. They will strengthen their understanding of a Christ-centered calling within engaging classroom settings.

Hands On Experience

Our students will have the opportunity to explore their gifts and talents alongside the incredible staff of City First Church. Each student will be immersed in the life of the church and will receive invaluable encouragement and leadership opportunities as they are empowered to take ownership in the local church. Our Ministry Practicums will give them the chance to implement what they have learned in the classroom and put it into practice.

More About Practicums

Character Formation

Each student will be challenged to live a life of excellence while engaging in the classroom, community, and local church. We understand that students will be faced with tough choices every single day, therefore character development is essential for success. During their time at CFLC students develop Christ-like character through time spent in relationship with mentors and peers.

Spiritual Development

CFLC students strengthen their devotion to God through the local church, chapels, life groups, and their connections with others. A community of authentic relationships, discipleship, and mentorship are available to each student. They will be challenged to…

Know God,
grow in faith,
live it out,
and pass it on!
